2 Nice Saltwater Pond Redfish 9-5-16

Great morning catching a couple of nice redfish.  There was a bunch of small bait fish schooled up along the banks and I would walk the edge watching for them being chased or scattered.  Caught a couple nice flounder and a few rat reds, but these 2 reds were the best of the day.  Haven't had a lot of chances to catch many reds and can really see why they are so loved.  Looking for that bull in the surf now.

This was also the first time using my new fish grips and loved them.  Made it a lot easier landing the fish:  http://amzn.to/2db7lLv

Fishing Saltwater Ponds Morning after Hermine

Hit a saltwater lake early morning after Tropical Storm Hermine went through the Southeast.  It was a beautiful day after a miserable one the day before. Didn't catch anything huge, but it was nice to wake up to a clear sky and a mixed bag of fish.

Everything was caught on:

Fishing in Tropical Storm Hermine 9/2/16

Already had a trip planned to go to Pawleys Island for Labor Day weekend to do a little fishing.  Almost decided not to go, but saw that the next 3 days were good after the storm so went on down.  Didn't plan on fishing Friday during them storm, but there was a brief lull before the hardest part hit us.  I was pleasantly surprised that the fish were feeding during the storm and was able to catch red and black drum, croaker, and some other small fish.  The cool thing was the fish were feeding in the flow coming from the marsh.  All were caught using shrimp and of course using my tried and true Zebco Z-Cast rod and Pflueger Trion reel.

Got to go back out right before dark and caught 2 nice flounder and a bigger black drum.  The flounder were caught on a Z-Man Scented PaddlerZ in Electric Chicken.  I really love Z-Man products because they are so tough and can catch a lot of fish before getting torn up.  First time trying the PaddlerZ and the action looked really good for twitching and slow retrievals.

8-28-16 Report Jigging for Redbreasts

We don't always appreciate fish like a redbreast sunfish, but you do when they are the only fish willing to bite.  I went to try out a new section of a river I'd been recently scoping out hoping for some good smallmouth.  The section looked great, but the smallies weren't biting for some reason.  The redbreasts, on the other hand, were all about eating some crayfish.

The preferred lures were definitely the Yum F2 Craw Papi and the Strike King Bitsy Tubes
